Emergent Resilience

Our Mission

Empowering individuals, organizations, and communities to Build Resilience So They Can Thrive In a climate changing world.

Climate change is an urgent crisis that is symptomatic of deeper underlying problems, the impacts of which affect us all.

Emergent Resilience develops and provides research-based offerings that help our clients thrive in the midst of dramatic global change. We help anyone build climate resilience, especially those whose work involves climate change, such as scientists, regulators, lawyers, advocates, activists, and more.

Our programs:

  • address current and potential climate distress at all levels of our partners’ ecosystems.

  • empower efforts to mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis and other structural stressors.

  • enable everyone to contribute to the emergence of a better future.

Climate Wisdom Labᵀᴹ

Our flagship program is the Climate Wisdom Lab, an experiential and highly interactive workshop that prepares participants for sustainable engagement with climate change, structural oppression and inequality, and other systemic challenges by enabling awareness of participants’ unique experience of climate change and social disruption and helping participants develop specific and practical capacities and skill sets that are essential for engaging with and thriving amidst the dramatic ecological, social, and political changes of our time.

Who We Work With

We help colleges, universities, and other educational institutions develop programs and curriculum that help their students, faculty and staff thrive within the complex psychological and mental health realities of a climate changing world.

We support government agencies, non-profits, corporations, and others seeking to mitigate the impacts of structural stressors, and to build internal capacity for long-term resilience.

We help communities address the current impacts of climate distress, while enhancing their capacity to implement local climate solutions and to respond resiliently to future impacts.
